Twister destroys Bank – Caught on tape
Ever wonder what it looks like when a twister hits a building? Check out this video from a security camera inside the First State Bank, in Parkersburg, Iowa on May 25th. The tornado crashes right through the front window – thankfully no one was inside. Tornados that day destroyed about a third of the town – over 400 homes. Seven people were killed in the deadly storm.
America’s Heartland has been hammered by far more tornadoes and tornado deaths than usual, with 1,258 twisters and at least 110 deaths reported so far in 2008. That's more deaths than in any year in a decade, and a "huge number" of tornado deaths for modern times, said Harold Brooks, a research meteorologist at the National Severe Storms Lab, in Norman, Oklahoma.
